Books

Reading is a means of thinking with another person's mind; it forces you to stretch your own.
Charles Scribner Jr.

One of the best pieces of advice that I have ever heard, came from a speech made by the late Jim Valvano. Jimmy V was dying of cancer at the time of the speech and in it, suggested three things that we should do every day of our lives. Following is an excerpt from that speech.

"To me, there are three things we all should do every day. We should do this every day of our lives. Number one is laugh. You should laugh every day. Number two is think. You should spend some time in thought. Number three is, you should have your emotions moved to tears, could be happiness or joy. But think about it. If you laugh, you think, and you cry, that's a full day. That's a heck of a day. You do that seven days a week, you're going to have something special."

Reading is a good way to spend some time in the practice of that advice. Reading about our dogs enables us to better understand, and interact with, a great source of happiness in our lives.

Following is a list of books that we at Dog Lovers Digest, reccomend as a good source of thought provoking material about our dogs. If you know of a book that you think should be added to this list, please let us know.
